Responsibilities
- Contract Review & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with clients, suppliers, and business partners, ensuring favorable terms for the company and compliance with relevant laws.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Oversee and advise on daily compliance matters, ensuring the company's operations align with legal requirements. Guide the business in managing regulatory risks and staying up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution: Manage disputes and litigation processes, collaborating with external attorneys to ensure effective resolution and the defense of the company?s interests.
- Project Legal Support: Provide legal support on commercial projects, ensuring compliance and addressing any legal challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Legal Updates & Monitoring: Monitor and distribute updates on changes in laws and regulations, providing management with the latest information. Organize training sessions as necessary.
- External Relations: Liaise with external law firms and handle relationships with legal service providers to ensure the company receives the best support and advice.
- Business Travel: Travel as required to support international projects and engage with legal teams or stakeholders in different jurisdictions.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor?s degree or higher in Law.
- Professional Qualifications: Qualified lawyer in Panama with the necessary legal license.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with strong expertise in corporate affairs, commercial contracts, compliance, and dispute management.
- Expertise: Strong knowledge of contract law, intellectual property law, corporate law, employment law, and immigration law. Experience with labor law, engineering projects, or the energy sector is a plus.
- Skills: Strong business acumen, communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively. Proficient at providing daily legal counseling and managing corporate legal affairs.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in both Spanish and English, with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Additional Qualities: Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
