The Homeroom Teacher fosters a supportive, restorative, and community-centered environment. This role prioritizes relationship-building, proactive communication, and the academic, social, and emotional well-being of each student, while maintaining strong partnerships with families.
Key Responsibilities - Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and affirming homeroom environment that supports school culture, attendance, behavior expectations, and student engagement.
- Build strong relationships with students through community-building circles, regular check-ins with each advisee, and a consistent adult presence.
- Use restorative practices to build healthy relationships, address reported conflicts or disciplinary situations, support behavioral growth, repair harm, and strengthen classroom and school culture.
- Monitor academic progress and overall well-being, intervening early when concerns arise.
- Serve as the primary liaison between home and school, maintaining consistent communication with families regarding student progress and concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and administrators to coordinate comprehensive support for students.
- Supervise students during advisory periods, assemblies, special events, and other assigned activities.
- Support students in maintaining their lockers and surrounding areas organized.
Requisitos:
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching certification and/or relevant teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with English language learners in a diverse classroom setting.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and best practices in English language instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and resilience in addressing the unique challenges of teaching English language learners.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
